About Chew Town

Chew Town is a recipe development and food photography blog with dynamic imagery and fuss-free food. Chew Town’s ethos is just because it’s simple doesn’t mean it can’t look beautiful.

Founded in March 2011 by an Australian with a rich Italian heritage, Chew Town showcases seasonal produce, bold flavours and uncomplicated cooking and aims to show readers that impressive looking food is usually not difficult if you are game enough to give it a try.

While Italian food features heavily throughout the pages of Chew Town, many different cuisines and techniques are included as a way of inspiring readers of the blog to jump into the kitchen and give cooking a go.

Amanda is a West Australian living in Sydney. Born to Italian parents, Amanda’s history with food began with having an exceptional cook for a mother and working in her family’s restaurants.

An Opera Singer in a past life, Amanda now works as a freelance food photographer, cook and occasional stylist. She can usually be found in her kitchen or photography studio with an apron on and camera in hand humming along to Habanera from Bizet’s Carmen. 

The Italian way of cooking is free and liberating, focusing on well developed taste buds instead of measurements and preciseness. This way of cooking has led to Amanda’s ability to match flavours and develop the delicious recipes which feature throughout Chew Town.

As a recipe development blog, the majority of Chew Town’s recipes are developed, tested and written by the author. Chew Town welcomes you taking inspiration from the recipes that feature on the blog, however would request a link to the original post is included above or below the recipe. If you are not modifying the recipe and want to repost it exactly as is, Chew Town requests that only the ingredient list is posted on your website, with a link back to the original Chew Town recipe post for the remainder of the recipe method to be found.
