Last weekend, after a busy Friday night out and a Saturday spent at work we needed something tasty and comforting for dinner on Saturday night. The last thing we wanted to do was go out so it was agreed that we’d have to cook. Looking for inspiration, I came across a pie recipe that sounded perfect (see Beef and Mushroom Pie). We decided that I’d make the pie and Scotty would concoct a little canape entree.
After a quick trip to the supermarket for supplies, Scotty began cooking and piecing together the canapes. Now, I would love to be able to give you the recipe as they were super tasty… but alas, Scotty can’t remember exactly what went into it. What I can tell you is that the base is a little rice cake made with cooked rice and a few other spices pressed into a round mold then fried in a pan with a little oil. On top is a prawn, dill, chilli, lime mixture (with a few other things I am sure I have missed).
As I can’t tell you exactly what went into it, why don’t you try giving it a go yourself and be creative. Like Scotty, it will usually always end with you putting something great together and learning a bit more about how flavours go together. At least I have a picture to show you what it looked like!

That's one way to add some nice flavor to the humble rice cake. Then again, with something so simple, you could probably get as creative as you want with it.

It’s really simple but a very beautiful recipe. Although I never try this before; but I think it will taste great.
